Z-Plus Lighter Insert

Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved Zippo lighters. I bought my first one at 13 and have been carrying one daily since. From the sound to the tricks, Zippo’s are more than lighters… they’re the American lighter and other lighters just don’t feel the same.

There’s just one problem. What if you’re a cigar smoking Zippo lover that wants to light with a butane flame and yet keep the classic Zippo?

The other day I saw the Z-Plus Torch Flame Lighter Insert and thought my problem might actually be solved. It sounds ingenious… take your existing Zippo, pull out the flint lighter, and then replace with the butane torch.

Sound simple? Yes. It took me less than a minute to change out my Skull torch (picture above) and that included fueling the insert.

The pros? Well… a good flame and you get to use the lighter you’ve always loved.

The cons? It’s not a Colibri—that’s for sure. The insert is half plastic and my first impression didn’t overwhelm me with a sense of awe. Mine, for example, takes two clicks to ignite.

Since this is day 1, I’ll have to see how it goes… and as always, will keep it posted.
